Hawaii National Parks

There is alot to see and do on the islands of Aloha, so with some simple planning you can get the most from your time on the big island of Hawaii or any of the smaller islands. We have gathered together all of the national & national historical parks on the big island to help you in planning your time and maybe even a visit to one if not a few of these great parks.

• Kaloko-Honokohau - Kailua-Kona
• Pu uhonua o Honaunau - Honaunau
• Hawaii Volcanoes - Volcano-Hilo

If you are planning to visit any of these national parks there are a couple of things that you must remember.

• It's HOT!!! - The Kona side of the island can get scortching with temp's near and ofter exceeding 90° f. Wear some sort of headgear (hat) and a light t-shirt. Bring plenty of sunscreen too.
• It's DRY!!! - Bring lots of water. The visitor's centers all sell bottled water, but you may want to buy a camelbak if you plan on doing one of the longer hikes or just plan on spending the day here.
• These sites are sacred to the native Hawaiians and therefore must be respected. It is illegal to remove anything from any of these parks, and in the case of the Heiau's, illegal to walk out on them. Viewing is best done from below.
